1996 : Rev. Fr. Panicker,Parish Priest, St. Peter's Cathedral, Pathanamthitta marked a beginning by distributing few food packets at General Hospital, Pathanamthitta. The act of love was then taken on by the public.

2001(April 18) : Divine Karunalayam trust was registered . The orphanage was set up with 7 inmates at Azhoor.

2005 : P.I Lonappan took charge as the managing trustee. The orphanage was shifted to Omaloor . The number of inmates grew to 35. The trust obtained 12 A,80 G, FCRA registrations.

2006 : The trust bought its own cemetery at Anghadical,Pathanamthitta. Till date 56 inmates have been buried there, with all the burial rights.

2014 : The trust bought 35 cents of land at Kottipillayth junction, East Vazhamuttam, Mallasery.

2015 (March) : Divine Karunalayam started functioning at the new edifice in Kottipillayth junction, East Vazhamuttam, Mallasery. The trust sinked with St. Joseph's Kapuchin Ashramam,Kottayam. Presently, the trust works under the blessing of the Ashramam.
